memory ditto

I have 8 gigs of memory but computer says only 3 gigs usable. Wasn't like that before I installed new hard drive

Are you using XP or W7

Are there jumpers on the drive?

Did you do a new install of the OS?

Check in Disk Management. You might be able to create a new partition

W7 32bit only sees so much ram.. you have to install 64bit for it to see above 4gig.
Check in bios see if it shows it there...
