After 35+ years of operation, the stack went down without a hitch this
morning at the Generating Plant I've spent the last 23 years at.
The stack was 504 feet tall and after the initial explosions to weaken the
bottom east side, the stack dropped several feet and seemed to hang
forever before starting it's final descent towards the east.
Once it hit the ground we immediately headed back west towards the
parking lot because, as you'll see, a huge dust cloud headed our way! YIKES!
The link below is a short video of the implosion. I'll have a better video soon.

The Plant is located in Laughlin Nevada and once produced 1500 mega watts
of coal fired electrical energy on a daily basis.
Approx 55% of the energy went to Southern California. The rest was split
between Arizona and Nevada.

TOTALLY AWESOME!! It started coming down so slowly it looked as if it would stop anytime.

Very cool, Joe! I am sure the dust was awful... and probably full of Radon gas, if the tower had a concrete skin. That's why they say to wear a mask when you drill old school concrete, as the Radon gas is released when you destroy the bond that held it together for the last 50+ years.

The third video is the best of all. You can actually see the stack just sort of hang there after the explosions to weaken the bottom of it.
Naturally, everyone where I was viewing it from went....UH OH...
Sad day for me.
