Bin File Download and Use Information - DO THIS FIRST!

Post by Bubbachuk-PG- »

'Bin Files', as part of your completed map package, allow you to give names to bots that drive or fly vehicles and allows you to set up 'Map Named Locations' found in the 'MARKERS' section of the 'INSERT ITEM' window. You can also set up Personalized 'MISSION BRIEFINGS' that appear at the start of the map and when the "O" key is pressed during the game.

here is where you can download it. The download is named "Basic Bin File Tutorial":

SAVE OR EXTRACT IT TO YOUR DESKTOP.

There are basically 3 parts to the download:
1. coopbin file - This is a "Text File" template to work from.
2. A TXT2BIN File - This program converts the "Text File" to a "BIN" file.
3. A BIN2TXT file - This program converts an existing "BIN" file to a "Text File" so it can be edited then converted back to a "BIN" file using the "TXT2BIN" program.

Here's how it works:

Open the coopbin file. It will open in NOTEPAD. You'll see a lot of text there. Go to the very bottom and insert the BOLD text shown below EXACTLY AS IT'S SHOWN. If there is an //before text, I put it there for your information. Don't use or copy it. Bold text is the execution script.

'[info]'
Title = "Arctic Outpost"; //map name
briefing = "Map Details<-uco> //Your heading
//start entering your text here - you're limited to 6 or 7 lines
//my sample text is all below
This is a Foggy Map with dark skies. Visability is good within 400 meters of an objective.

Objectives<-uco>
There are 5 objectives. The last objective is the most difficult.

"; // this is not a typo - this is where it goes
LOSE_DEBRIEFING = ".";

Once you have this in the coopbin file, make changes to the regular, non-bold text to describe your map.

SAVE THIS FILE INTO THE GAME FOLDER WITH THE EXACT SAME NAME AS YOUR MAP.

Now, double click on the TXT2BIN icon, locate the "Text File" file in the game folder and click on it, then click OK. It is now converted to a .bin file.

If you have to edit the information, you must first convert it back to a "Text File" file using the BIN2TXT program. When corrections are made, save it as a "Text File" and then convert it back to a "BIN" file with the TXT2BIN program.
