Post by Windstalker-PG- »

My laptop won't boot. I have tried booting in safe mode, recovery consol etc. I tried booting from the OS cd and it hangs when it says starting windows.

I think you are right, Buck. I've talked to the IT guys at work and they said the same thing. I am hoping it is just a bad boot sector, rather than the drive being completely fried.

Finally got the recovery console to work, ran chkdsk like 5 times until no errors were returned.. so I am back up at least for now.. the good news is: I just ordered a new hard drive for this laptop, a 320 gig drive so I am quadrupling my storage (80 gig - 320 gig)

The even better new is ....... Mother allowed me to order a NEW laptop... Quad core I7; 8 gig ram, ati Raedon 6770 with 1 gig; 160 gig SSD; 500 gig 7200 rpm HD...this baby should just flat out scream.... Watch out CJ I am coming for ya... :D

You'll be smokin' Wind.

Consider getting a laptop cooling stand.

Spicoli and I bought the exact same (gaming) laptops a week apart. He bought the cooling stand
and I didn't. Mine burned up soon after we went to the BO 1.3 version. His is still going strong!
I think the 1.3 version is more graphics intense so it caused my graphics card to generate a lot more heat
and even though I updated the BIOS which was suppose to kick the fans into high gear earlier than original, it didn't help.
He did tell me about the cooling stands. Wish I had listened.

The overheating part was my fault. Put to much crap in the mod. (Hence the extra cooling required on laptops!!!!!)
