Too old?

I have a nag... According to a posting in "The Next Web", October 2012: IE9, still the latest and greatest from Microsoft, captured 19.45 percent of the market last month (up by 1.05 percent percentage points). IE8 lost a whopping 1.18 percentage points and fell below the 25 percent mark, but it’s still the world’s most popular browser
If that is the case, then why do I have to put up with the annoying messsage on our web site that "My Browser is TOO OLD!", when trying to geolocate me? And why is it trying to geolocate me to begin with? You know where I am, and I certainly don't need everyone that uses our site to know my Lat/Long values...
