Lightning Strike
Had a real scary experience yesterday. I had just got home from work at about 2:00 and was standing in the garage talking with the wife. The weather was turning real bad . . . very dark clouds were overhead and it was just beginning to rain. All of a sudden, there was a huge crack of lightning. I was about 3 feet away from our circuit breaker box and sparks flew out of it. Scared the hell out of both of us. It took us several seconds to realize what had happened and minutes more before we started to assess the damage . . . and there was some . . .
Tripped several breakers in the box,
Tripped all 6 of the GFCI outlets,
Fried my garage door opener,
Fried my cable modem and my internet modem which is also the phone system, (both on surge protectors)
Fried network cards in 3 of the 4 computers in my computer room, (all on surge protectors)
Fried one computer power supply,
Fried all 5 of our portable phones, etc
Thankfully the one computer I've had the longest and the one that I use as a server survived with no damage at all so I'll be able to host the server tomorrow.

Bummer
Handle every stressful situation like a Dog....if you can't eat, hump it, or play with it, pee on it and walk away

Re: Lightning Strike
After talking with my neighbors I found out that I wasn't the only one hit. 3 houses on each side of me were hit and suffered a lot worse damage than I did . . . fried TVs, computers, IPads, ceiling fans, garage door openers, just to name a few things.
