Several weeks ago I had a lightning strike that blew out my cable company provided modem/router. It also damaged the PCI Ethernet cards in 2 of my computers. The cable company replaced and set up the router/modem and I replaced the cards in both of the computers. Here's the problem I'm having:
I have opened all the necessary ports in the modem/router to host DFX2 and DFX2 Black Ops (same ports).
I have no problem hosting on the computer that was not affected by the lightning strike. I am able to use my gaming computer to join the server with no problem.
However, when I try to host on the other computer and then go to my gaming computer to join the server, I get an "Enumerating Session".
Yes, I did change the router IP address in the Port Forwarding for whatever computer I was trying to host on. I even DMZed the IP address but still get the same thing on this one computer.
The port assignments in the game.cfg file on each computer that is set up to host is identical. (UDP)
I have changed out the ethernet cables, switched the cables around to different modem/router ports and reset the router a couple of times.
Any suggestions??

Re: Enumerating Session
Sounds like you need to change the 5 starting ports. So they don't try to talk and receive on the same ports. I thought we had already set this up. Is this a different pc then what we set up maybe a year and a half ago for hosting?

Yes, it's the same PC. I can host and join with no problem when I host on my other PC using the same port settings.Sounds like you need to change the 5 starting ports. Re: Enumerating Session
Did you adjust the second pc to use different standard port?
Your playing pc should be set to 32768. Your server pc should be using a different port. Otherwise the router gets cornfused.
mpnovaworldportmin = "32768"
mpnovaworldportmax = "32787"
mpnovaworldportdelta = "1"
mpnovaworldportrandom = "0"
mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportmin = "32768"
mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportmax = "32787"
mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportdelta = "1"
mplanserverportmin = "32768"
mplanserverportmax = "32787"
mplanserverportdelta = "1"
mplanclientportmin = "32768"
mplanclientportmax = "65535"
mplanclientportdelta = "1"
mplanclientportrandom = "0"
mplanservertojoinportmin = "32768"
mplanservertojoinportmax = "32787"
The five 32768 udp ports should be maybe set to 32800 on the hosting pc. If you are hosting on a second machine it should also have five different ports from the other machine. So name all 5 of those 32850. Also some hosting providers are blocking the minimum port number 49152 because of a user password exploit.
Changing this to 49152 to 49153 can't hurt. Novalogic uses this port number to connect to nvidia login server as it is the first port number to be used by the dfx2.exe.
This should fix the problem. Also the same thing for router settings. If you host using more than one computer. Each should be using a different port and local ip address. This way the router can tell the difference between the two pcs and port numbers.

Re: Enumerating Session
I only host on 1 PC at a time. The 5 ports 32768 have been changed to 32780. Should they be changed to 32800?

Re: Enumerating Session
I have 3 server boxes and I change all of the 5 Min Ports to 32775, 32776, and 32777 respectfully for each server box and open those ports in the router. I leave all the 4 Max Ports at 32787
I leave the mp gate server local port min at 49152, the mp gate server local port max at 65536, and the mp lan client port max at 65535
I leave the mp gate server local port min at 49152, the mp gate server local port max at 65536, and the mp lan client port max at 65535

Re: Enumerating Session
It just needs to be different than your playing machine. So if it is already set that way then it could be software firewall or issues with your router firewall.

Thanks, Huntor. I made the changes you suggested and they work.Huntor wrote:Changing this to 49152 to 49153
