DATA Center Conversation

Post by huntor »

Just thought I would share this with you guys. This is a question I asked back in October.

Original question old data center vs new data center.

Hi Jason,

The largest change to networking is with the on net providers. CDC 603 will have
Zayo, Comcast, AT&T, Level 3. XO and WOW are currently building. We are also
Open IX Certified, the only Chicago Data Center that has been approved, and we
will be turning up a Peering Exchange within the coming month connecting
multiple data centers and providers together.

Our backbone between multiple data centers is on Zayo Dark Fiber and DWDM Ciena
Gear.

During the migration, the network will largely remain unchanged to keep
migration issues to a minimum. Once migration has been completed we will
continue to make improvements to both stability and speed.

Hope this helps.

Tom

So basically what he is saying.......
Even though we have moved your equipment over to the new facility. The networks you are directly accessed to are still the same until they have everyone moved. Once everyone is moved from the old facility to the new one. They will converge all the networks together and should improve everyones network access. So right now I don't think we have access to level 3, xo, or wow networks yet. But I would imagine in two months we should be fully connected to all the datacenter has to offer as I think we were one of the last ones moved to the new datacenter.
