Streaming Videos

Post by Bubbachuk-PG- »

My WIN7 computer just stopped streaming videos. A video will start then stop and appears to be buffering but never resumes. This happens in both Firefox and IE. I've checked that the plugins were active and they are.
The game runs fine. The internet connection is fine.
Any suggestions?

Well this is embarrassing . . . ;) It's working today!

The only thing I can figure is that I had a problem with my ISP and didn't know it. I had tried to view several videos yesterday morning when the problem occurred. At about 1:00 I decided to put up a game server and it was working fine . . . until . . . I was leaving the game to go eat dinner about 5:00. I glanced over at my laptop where I had PHP-RAT running and noticed it had disconnected from the server. I looked at the monitor for the computer the game was running on and noticed all the names were in white instead of blue which is normal when changing maps. However, there were still 10 minutes left in the game. Eventually the names disappeared . . . a sure sign the internet connection was gone. After dinner I came back to the computers and the connection was back so I put the server back up. I didn't have a chance to try streaming a video until today and it's working now.

WEIRD!!

Think I figured out what the problem was that I described earlier . . .
I use a G35 headset and it is the primary 'speaker', so to speak. It connects through a USB Port.

Sometimes right after I start the computer I have no sound in the headphones nor does the microphone work. It doesn't happen all of the time but enough to be a pain. I have to unplug from the USB port then plug it back in to get sound.

There was a show I wanted to watch on TV when I got home from work yesterday. My wife was watching some show she'd recorded on the main TV so instead of going to another TV, I decided to watch it on my computer. When I selected the program, it ran for about 5 seconds and froze. It occurred to me there had been no sound either so I unplugged the headset from the USB then plugged it back in. BOOM!! I had streaming video and sound!

Apparently the streaming video will not work unless there is a sound device present.
