New Servers in the Fall
New Servers in the Fall
I have been working on getting some new hardware to replace the existing servers in the fall.
Here is the hardware list.
AMD RYZEN 5 2400G Quad-Core 3.6 GHz (3.9 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W (released in February)
Dynatron A18 AMD AM4 Processor 70 x70 x15mm PWM blower with Copper fins active Heatsink for 1U Server up to TDP 95 Watts CPU Cooler
MSI X470 GAMING PLUS AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 X2 for 32 gigs
Seagate BarraCuda Pro ST2000DM009 2TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive (x 2) for backup purposes (Game server may get SSD instead, Webserver must stay with conventional due to all the read/writes that happen)
Athena Power AP-U1ATX40P8 20+4Pin 400W Single 1U EPS 80 PLUS Server Power Supply
NORCO RPC-170 Black 1U Rackmount Server Chassis 1 External 5.25" Drive Bays
Software
Server 2019 Standard
The reason for the fall release is to allow for additional testing and time for the hardware/drivers to mature. The x470 motherboards was just released Thursday if this tells you how new it is Also server 2019 (AKA Server Next) will not be released until September/October at the earliest. I will see if i can pull up the specs for the current server so you can compare.
Old server specs
AMD A10-7850k Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores
Dynatron A48G 70mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
Corsair DDR3 1600 Mhz 32 gigs
Seagate ST1000DM003 1T hard drive times (x2)
Athena Power AP-U1ATX40P8 20+4Pin 400W Single 1U EPS 80 PLUS Server Power Supply Or equivelant
NORCO RPC-170 Black 1U Rackmount Server Chassis 1 External 5.25" Drive Bays
Software Server 2012 R2

Well, I saw a couple of words in there that I understood but it sure looks good.

Re: New Servers in the Fall
Toaster parts & hamster wheels can easily handle "Angel Falls" as it's configured now.
