I've recently been getting this error when I'm trying to make maps...
( C:\MEDP1BCK.MIS ) This file will not save changes you make. It is a read only file.

I would make a copy of your game. Move it outside of the program files folder. C:\Novalogic\DFX2 Folder or something like that. Also make sure you don't have a period in your folder name. Example C:\bomod1.6 Should just be C:\bomod16 That will cause some issues with the med editor too. Other than that. No idear.

Yup, that is why I suggested making a copy of the game and pulling it out of the program files folder and use the editor in the new folder. Then you don't have to worry about that and you can leave all the security parts turned on.

I'm using win 10 - 64 bit. I've found the issue with the "medp1bck.mis" file popping up when working on a map.
It relates to missing references of map names in the "pref.med" file. Both files are viewable with a text editor.
Just don't slip and change anything when looking into those files. Every new map file saved or worked on is
listed in the "Pref.Med[". The map files are listed onto 9 lines and each new map name pushes the list down,
and is not viewable. Individual "object change", in a map, won't change the listing name or placement in the
"Pref,Med". This list is the same as when you Click "Open" in MedEditor. Those file listings are the same in the
"Pref.med" and "MedEditor" "Open command" when you want to work on a new or existing map file.
This, however, finding and deleting the Culprit file has worked thus far.

No one was wrong, Huntor <:-). Just like this game, "We hunt for the enemy, destroy their occupancy, and possessions, then move on to another operation\map.
Since this is a replica of an Army training curriculum, anything may be possible, by accident, or intentional.
Consider the original programmers, and consumers who've purchased the game.
"Someone once said: If anything can go wrong, It will".
Thanks for your suggestion.
