They don't do to well in hilly or mountainous maps because they just fly into the terrain and disappear. I personally haven't messed with them that much but if I were to and had your problem some of the things I would do is be sure to raise them well into the air and then bring up the Item Attributes and check the AZ box (Absolute Zero) and then the "Lock" box. If its available for birds, you may want to also select the "Hover" option.

Good Luck!

We discovered that the birds don't work well in Co-Op way back in DFX. They tend to fly in a jerking
pattern because of the time lag.
However, they work great in Single Player mode.

Here's how you make them fly:

Place some waypoints in the map (0 through 10) and name them in the waypoint list. Then set their "Z" value so they're
all above ground.

Place a bird(s) near waypoint zero. In the bird's item attributes, select it to follow the waypoints. Also,
check the boxes "Blind" and "Flying Organic". Under "Team" leave it Neutral (Green).

The reason you make the bird blind is because it's an AI and it will not follow the waypoints if there is any
gun fire.

Enjoy!
